ROMEO AND JULIET: A WEBQUEST ON SHAKESPEARE AND ELIZABETHAN THEATRE
Process

To do this WebQuest you have to follow these instructions very carefully:
- Your teacher will divide the class into five groups of four, eight and six students (group A: 4 students, group B: 8 students, group C: 4 students, group D: 4 students, group E: 6 students). Each group will work on an important aspect related to Romeo and Juliet.
- Within each group, you will work in pairs. Each pair will have a role: a pair of biographers, a pair of work researchers, four pairs of historians, a pair of architects, a pair of literary critics, two pairs of travel agents and the company of actors.
If you don't understand something or if you need help, you can use either the dictionaries and grammar references available at your school library or the online ones in the Internet.
These are the activities you have to do:
ACTIVITY 1. RESEARCH WORK

ACTIVITY 2. COMPOSITIONS AND SCRIPT
Step 1 Biographers: Write a composition with the information you have collected in your report.
Work researchers: Write a composition with the information you have collected in your report.
Travel agents: Write a composition with the information you have collected in your report.
Historians: Write a composition with the information you have collected in your report.
Journalists: Write a composition with the information you have collected in your report.
Architects: Write a composition with the information you have collected in your report.

Actors: Write the script of your new act.
Step 2 - If you are not an actor, work with all the members of your group and join your compositions. Add all the necessary linkers and make the changes you need so that the result is a unified text with the necessary paragraphs.
Hand in the composition to your teacher.
- If you are an actor or actress, work with the rest of the company and practise the pronunciation.
ACTIVITY 3. POSTERS AND PUBLICITY BOARD
Work with all the members of your group and prepare a poster on the aspect you have studied. Remember to show texts and pictures and include information of all the members of the group.
The company of actors will prepare the publicity board for their play.
ACTIVITY 4a. ORAL PRESENTATIONS
Speaking Present your work to your classmates. Show them your poster and speak in English about your findings.
Listening Listen to your classmates and fill in the co-evaluation sheet.
ACTIVITY 4b. PLAY PERFORMANCE
Actors Perform your play in front of the audience.
Audience Enjoy the play and fill in the co-evaluation sheet.
ACTIVITY 5. POSTERS DISPLAY
Stick the posters on the walls of your school and have an attentive look at all of them.
ACTIVITY 6. A QUIZ
What have you learnt? Click here and answer a questionnaire on Shakespeare. Then, go to the quiz section, do it and check your knowledge. Then, download and complete the self-assessment sheet to reflect on your own learning.
