The History of Candy

Candy began in about 1854 when the first packaged box of Whitman's chocolate was sold.  This is now known as boxed chocolate.  In the 1880s, Wunderle Candy Company created candy corn.  Candy corn is still one of the best selling Halloween candies.  In 1893, William Wrigley, Jr. Juicy Fruit Chewing Gum and Wrigley's Spearmint Chewing Gum.  In 1900, the first Hershey's milk chocolate bar was invented.

This is just a brief history of candy.  Many more different candies were created, but it would take too long to list them all.

Fun Fact: The M&M company used to be called M&M Mars, but shortened its name in 2000.
