This lesson utilizes interdisciplinary instruction in order to teach critical thinking skills. The teacher will be using English/Language Arts, Art, Music and Technology in order to teach this lesson. Upon completion of this lesson the students will learn:
- How to perform technology based research on the internet in order to support a main idea;
- How to work in cooperative learning groups;
- How to participate in an organized classroom debate;
- How to summarize information by completing an essay where they must apply organized writing skills in order to support their findings.
This lesson will also teach students that there may not be only one answer to the question of musical score vs. special effects. After participating in the classroom debate, the students may conclude that both sides working together are necessary in order for a film to be successful.
